Our MissionThe mission of the Natural History Society of Maryland is to foster stewardship of Maryland’s natural heritage by conserving its natural history collections, educating its citizenry, and inspiring its youth to pursue careers in the natural sciences. We do this by supporting its natural history organizations and working towards the development of a permanent, comprehensive natural history museum in the State of Maryland. How You Can HelpAs a nonprofit organization that obtains the majority of its operational funding from membership, the Natural History Society of Maryland relies on donations from individuals and grants from public and private sources to help us grow. If you plan on making a donation, be sure to check with your company to see if they have a matching fund program. It will double your donation with only a little extra work! Here are several ways you can help. Become A MemberMembership in The Natural History Society of Maryland not only benefits the organization financially, but it helps to strengthen it by increasing our membership level. When public and private funding sources consider an organization for a grant, they determine how much impact their funding will have on its target audience.
