Fossil Club: Prepping Your Fossils, a Hands-On Demonstration

 , , ,

Clubs fossils Lectures & Workshops Open to the Public

We’ve had a number of requests on how to prep fossils so for the November meeting Tom Farrell will show you how he does it and what he’s learned. He will discuss when, where, and how to prepare your fossils for presentation. Tom is an amateur but has evolved a variety of techniques over the past 20 years he will share. These are (mostly) low-budget techniques suitable for entry-level preppers. He will have samples and his tools and there will be some hands on practice for club members to try.

This meeting of the NHSM Fossil Club will take place in person at 6908 Belair Rd. If you’d prefer to tune in virtually, email the club coordinator (mfalk@marylandnature.org) for a Zoom link and passcode.

Natural History Society of Maryland’s Fossil Club is a group of novice and more experienced collectors who meet to exchange knowledge and help with fossil identification, discuss fossil locations, as well as other fossil related topics. Monthly meetings are held the first Wednesday of every month and are open to all, although non-members are asked to donate $5.

If you are a fossil enthusiast, please consider joining (https://www.marylandnature.org/club-membership/). NHSM membership is $35 for individuals, $50 for families. The Natural History Society of Maryland is a volunteer-led non-profit organization, so the fee you pay will go directly to support the programs, the nature collections, and the building that make this kind of nature education possible. Learn more about NHSM Clubs: https://youtu.be/pIA7naRjXws
