Winter Hike 1/22 Patuxent River Park

Field Trips

Spend time exploring outside with NHSM! Join Naturalist Kerry Wixted on an exploratory hike around Patuxent River Park. Established in 1962, Patuxent River Park comprises over 7,800 acres of riverside parkland in Prince George’s County that protects the land’s natural resources.

The group will be small so that the pace can be leisurely and full of shared observations. This hike will focus on time spent outside exploring and may walk up to 3 or 4 miles.

This time of year offers a view of the terrain that the trees obscure during other seasons. We’ll be exploring plants and perhaps will get a glimpse of a beaver lodge and ecosystem.

Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring whatever will make you comfortable in the cold such as hand warmers, tea, etc. Feel free to bring a water and a snack, as well as a hand lens or binoculars if you have them.

**Family friendly event: the minimum age for this event is 12 years and older.
