March NHSM Herp Club Meeting

Spring is just around the corner. That means amphibians will start to stir looking for a vernal pool. At this month’s Herp Club meeting, NHSM Herp Curator, Tom Scollins, will present a primer on vernal pools, shallow depressions that usually contain water for only part of the year that serve as essential breeding habitat for amphibians (salamanders and frogs). The second half of the meeting will be a Herp Show n Tell. Bring your herp to the meeting, and share something special about it with the group. It would be great to get a screen shot of herps in the Zoom windows.

Are you fascinated with reptiles and amphibians? The Natural History Society of Maryland’s Herp Club promotes the proper husbandry, conservation, study, and appreciation of reptiles and amphibians. Meet fellow “Herpers”! Amateurs, professionals, and kids of all ages are welcome! Membership to NHSM required. (NHSM membership is $25 for individuals, $35 for families.) Herp Club membership is an additional $5 for individuals and $10 for families annually. https://www.marylandnature.org/club-membership/
