Lectures & Workshops

Lectures, Workshops, & Demonstrations

Take your nature education to the next level. The Natural History Society of Maryland offers a variety of educational experiences to pique your interest and practice naturalist skills. Attend one of our lectures to learn interesting science facts to impress your friends. Drop in on one (or more!) of our recurring workshops to hone your identification skills in an informal learning environment. All experience levels are welcome. Lecture and workshop fees directly support our programs, the nature collections, and the building that make this kind of nature education possible.

Workshops and Demonstrations

On-going workshop and demonstration series:

  • What’s this Plant? Workshops are held on the second and fourth Monday nights of each month. Learn to identify plants in an informal setting with other inquisitive people and a botanist who can answer your questions. Facilitated by Charlie Davis and Judy Fulton.
  • Moss Workshops If mosses intrigue you when you hike but you wonder exactly what you are seeing, this is your chance to figure it out in a fun environment. On the last Saturday of each month, we’ll take a closer look at a moss or two and work together to identify them. We’ll introduce you to the vocabulary and work through moss keys together. Facilitated by Charlie and Linda Davis.
